This spring, students will be expected to take Standards of Learning (SOL) tests associated with the courses they are taking.  These tests will provide important feedback to parents and teachers about each student's learning during this past year.  SOL tests may be given in April, May and June 2021, with specific dates  provided by each school.

SOL testing is required this year by our state and federal governments.  However, parents do have the option to defer or decline their student's participation in one or more of the required tests.

Refusing an SOL test does not hurt a student's course grade, but it does have the potential to delay completion of a student's graduation requirements.  Refusing a required SOL test means the student will NOT be earning the verified credit this spring.  The student will still need to successfully complete this test or another qualifying SOL test in the future to satisfy diploma requirements.  Please speak with a school counselor if you have any questions about how a refusal could impact your child's graduation requirements.

PARENTS should complete this form to indicate intent for testing this spring.  Parents who wish to refuse testing should indicate this in the survey as well.  A separate form is required for each student.

All SOL tests must be taken in the school building, so students who are learning virtually must come to school to take each test.  School bus transportation is available for all students on the days of testing.  Students who are attending school for face-to-face instruction will be expected to test unless parents refuse consent in this survey or in a separate written statement.  **If your child is a VIRTUAL learner, please submit this survey BY MONDAY, APRIL 19th if you are requesting bus transportation.**
