About Our Presenters: 

Sean Gaillard 

Sean Gaillard, an accomplished educator and author with over two decades of experience, currently serves as principal at The Appalachian State University Academy at Middle Fork in Walkertown, NC. He holds degrees from The Catholic University in America, Trinity University, and the University of North Carolina A&T University. Gaillard is renowned for his contributions to innovation in education, including his book The Pepper Effect: Tap into the Magic of Creativity, Collaboration, and Innovation and co-authorship of Education Write Now, Volume 2. He is a prolific writer, podcaster, and presenter at conferences such as ISTE and the National School Board Association Conference. Gaillard is the founder of the #CelebrateMonday movement and is passionate about school culture, innovation, and music. Sean is the host of “The Principal Liner Notes Podcast,” now in its 6th season. In 2019, he was honored as the Wells Fargo Piedmont-Triad Region Principal of the Year and a finalist for North Carolina Principal of the Year. 


Lauren Kaufman

Lauren Kaufman, an experienced educator from Long Island, NY, is dedicated to empowering fellow educators and fostering lifelong literacy practices in learners. With nearly two decades of diverse roles in education, including as a classroom teacher, literacy specialist, instructional coach, mentor coordinator, and assistant principal, Lauren is currently the Director of Literacy K-12. She has led projects like developing Units of Study in reading and writing and implementing comprehensive approaches to literacy instruction. Committed to providing job-embedded professional learning and supporting new teachers, Lauren values collaboration and shares best practices through speaking engagements, blogging, podcasting, contributing to books, and writing for educational publications. Her upcoming book, The Leader Inside: Stories of Mentorship to Inspire the Leader Within is coming out this spring. 


Meghan Lawson

Meghan is the author of Legacy of Learning: Teaching for Lasting Impact.  She is a blogger, speaker, self-proclaimed joyologist, and a lover of learning who believes in the goodness of people. With disciplined intentionality, Meghan works to cultivate spaces that honor the humanity of all people. Her passion for creating kinder, forward-thinking communities of action has led her to study and create the conditions and systems needed for transformational change. A true believer in leading through others, Meghan promotes storytelling, the exchange of ideas, and risk-taking in schools. Lawson began her career in the English Language Arts classroom. So, inevitably, her mantra is “Words matter." Meghan  has worked in all levels of K–12 education as a teacher, school administrator, district administrator, and educational consultant.
