Session Description and Speaker Bio
2020 Elementary Mathematics: This session will provide an overview of the Grade 1 to 8 elementary math curriculum as well as resources that have been developed to support educators.
This session will be presented by a representative of the Ontario Ministry of Education under their professional development program for teacher candidates. The two speakers for this session are Alison Macaulay and Maude Bigelow. Alison Macaulay is an Education Officer in the Curriculum, Assessment, and Student Success Policy Branch of the Ministry of Education. She came to the ministry after 27 years working as a teacher and mathematics consultant in an Ontario school board. Alison was a Lead Author on the recently released elementary mathematics curriculum and she is currently developing pedagogical supports to assist educators who are implementing it in their classrooms. Maude Bigelow is an Education Officer in the French-Language Teaching and Learning Branch of the Ministry of Education. She came to the ministry after 15 years working as an elementary teacher, mathematics consultant in an Ontario school board and a provincial math lead. Maude is a Lead Author on the recently released French version of the elementary mathematics curriculum and she is currently developing pedagogical supports to assist educators who are implementing it in their classrooms.
