AED Booth Sign Up for General Convention
Dear Fellow Deacons,

AED is in the process of securing staffing for its booth at General Convention. AED will need staffing starting Friday, June 21 through Thursday June 27.

Basically, two-hour slots are available for people to serve at the booth. You can serve as many two hour slots as you like — however, a minimum of two hours is required if you volunteer for the booth, some slots are slightly longer. We will try our best to keep people to a maximum of six slots as we want people to enjoy all that convention has to offer.

While at the booth, our main task is to engage people about the diaconate and educate them on AED and the diakonia of all believers. It’s that simple. There will be material in the booth to share with people and there will also be electronic equipment to share the AED website (and all its rich resources) with guests.

If you are able to serve in the booth, please complete the survey by no later than Wednesday, May 1, 2023. For questions contact Rev. Jon Owens at owensj2016@fau.edu.

Name (This will appear on your name badge) *
Cell phone number (We ask for a cell phone in case we need to reach you at convention and can communicate through text messages). *
Email *
Do you have any other roles in convention such as delegate, alternate, etc?  If so, what?
(Experience has shown that a booth staffing role is incompatible with deputy responsibilities.)
*
Please check all the boxes of time slots you are available. (This will be used for scheduling)
Do you need housing? (One of the cost effective ways we may explore spreading out financial assistance is to do an Air BnB and have people share space.)
Clear selection
Do you need Financial Assistance? *
If asking for financial assistance how much? Keep in mind you need to think about room, board and travel to convention. Funds are limited and will be divided according to need and applicants who apply. Please explain what the money will be used for and will be awarded as an expense reimbursement with receipt.
Have you looked at other sources of scholarships from your parish, diocese or bishop? (Keep in mind bishop's often have discretionary money and some will help additional people attend who want to go. Also note some dioceses will allow convention to be counted as continuing education in case you are provided with a continuing education allowance).
Clear selection
Are you a young deacon (under the age of 45)? AED has budgeted scholarship money for all ages and has received an age-restricted gift to facilitate attendance. *
Are you interested in doing any of the following in addition to working the booth? Check all that apply. Please note this question is not an official sign up, but rather an indicating of interest. Your information will be shared with appropriate groups.
