Project Demo Submission Application 2024
We want to showcase your AI demos. We are interested in volunteer project demos that are:
  • Educational: They have to teach a principal or a technique.Digestible: We will show this at conferences. There should be a clear take-away that is apparent in the first 3 minutes.
  • Interactive: It shouldn't be a video or something where there are so many configuration setting that people feel intimidated.
  • Small: We have some technical requirements below, but the jist is we want to focus on the above and not the impressiveness.
  • Open Source: We want to be able to hack on them. If you're just calling a proprietary API then it's less interesting.
Some of those requirements are flexible. So if you're a vendor with an awesome educational demo that accurately shows a problem contact us. If you have a really awesome deepfake demo that runs on a FPGA. However, we are not interested in proprietary product pitches.

We will accept the top 8 demos for DEF CON this year. Deadline June 1st 2024

Compute Requirements
Demos need to run in a Docker container that:
  • Uses less than 10gb of VRAM on a current CUDA GPU (ideally also AMD GPUs)
  • Uses less than 20gb of RAM
  • Uses less than 4-6 vcpus
  • Caches all model artifacts to /cache/
  • Exposes a webpage front end on port 80.
Network Requirements
Ideally your container would not make any network requests past the initial load. Networks at hacker conferences can be flaky, and if we can run your demo on a local server that isn't connected to the internet we are more likely to accept it.

We are going to run these demos on a cloud environment and on a local server. The local server is going to be a beefy one so we can run as many of these as possible reliably at conferences, but it won't be infinite. The less resources the demo needs the more likely we are to accept it.
