Each month, the Counseling and Social Advocacy Center at UMSL offers opportunities to come together with other people who have experienced the death of a loved one. During these events, we offer some grief education and processing opportunities as well as an activity in which participants can honor the memory of their loved one. We would love for you to join us for one or more FREE events.


10/30/2021 & 4/9/2022 Stepping Stones: We will make a garden stepping stone that you can decorate to help remember your loved one.

11/20/2021 International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day: We will view a video produced by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and have breakout groups to discuss experiences as well as an activity. This event will also have a separate registration link that we can email to you.

12/11/2021 & 5/14/2022 Remembrance Candles: We will use votives to create beautiful candle holders in honor of those we have lost. A flameless candle will also be provided.

1/8/2022 & 6/11/22 Memory Journals: We will decorate journals with pictures that remind us of the loved ones who have died that we can later use to write our memories of them and our feelings related to our loss.

2/12/2022 Canvas Painting: We will paint a canvas to help with expressing our grief in ways we might not have the words for.

3/12/2022 Wind Chimes: We will assemble and decorate wind chimes to help us remember our loved one who died and to give a visual and audible reminder of the good times we shared with them.
