Scholarship & Work-Study Application
We are committed to doing whatever we can to make the Power of Words conference affordable and accessible to people. That's why we offer: 1)
Work-Study scholarships to cover a portion of the conference fee and/or 2)
Partial scholarships for people who would benefit from attending, including partial scholarships for
people living with serious illness and/or disability or people of color through the Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg Fund. In general, to help us remain a sustainable organization, we ask everyone to contribute a portion of the conference fee.
We are not able to provide any funds for meals or lodging.

1. We need help at the conference, and in some cases, beforehand. If you're able to contribute time in exchange for a partial scholarship, please check off all the boxes that apply to you. Note: We usually ask for 5-6 hours of volunteer time for a 1/2-conference-fee scholarship.

Help us prepare attendee packets and other materials (stuffing packets and related activities).
Assist one of our four main keynoters before their presentations.
Run errands and do catch-as-catch-can tasks we need help with at the conference.
Assist with conference promotion during the months of June, July, August, and/or September, such as listing our conference on event calendars, sending out press packets to organizations (we provide the lists), etc.
Crafty? You could help make small gifts for presenters.

6. Because of our limited scholarship fund, we are only able to award partial scholarships/work-study positions. The cost of the conference is $275 early bird rate for members/ $315 early bird rate for non-members. Please indicate which partial payment (listed below) would be affordable.
