Our goal with GEMS is to break the false dichotomy that there are "math people" and "non-math people," by instilling the idea that we are all math people. To achieve this goal,
- It is important for our GEMS instructors to teach new, interesting mathematics; and
- It is also equally important for students to engage with their fellow peers in tackling these problems.
This is precisely why we restrict eligible students to scholars who are in 8th, 9th, and 10th grade.
We kindly ask that you only register a student who is in this age demographic in order to create a more productive learning environment for all participants.
