RCTA Summer NJTL Intern and Community Coach Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in being an summer intern or Community Coach with our National Tennis & Learning network (NJTL).  We are looking for vibrant engaged adults and middle and high school youth to lead group tennis clinics on the court and be mentors and leaders off the court connecting tennis and education using the ACE curriculum.  

Community Coaches should be 18 and over and have tennis experience but do not need professional teaching credentials.  NJTL interns, age 14+ should have some tennis experience.  A passion for working with children IS required for both coach and intern positions.  Training will be provided. Community Coaches receive $35/clinic for NJTL Summer Network.  Interns receive $20/clinic for NTJL Summer network.  Payment is sent at end of the program.

Deadline for submitting this interest form is May 22.  Selection of 2021 coaches and interns will be announced by June 1. A limited number of positions are available.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Our NJTL Chapter provides group tennis clinics and court side enrichment once a week to youth age 6-12 at summer day camps across Rockingham County NC .  We follow the Net Generation curriculum www.netgeneration.com for on court instruction and USTA Foundation's Academic Creative Enrichment (ACE) for court side enrichment activities.

PROGRAM PARTNERS: In the past we have offered our NJTL network to summer youth day camp locations in Eden, Reidsville, and Mayodan.  The NJTL Summer Network schedule is weekday mornings and some afternoons Monday – Friday, June 13 – July 23. Due to Fourth of July closings, there may be programs the week of July 25.

PROGRAM LOCATIONS:  Summer NJTL clinics are usually 9-11am weekday mornings. For continuity, Community Coaches will be assigned to the same program location each week.  Interns may make their own schedule using SignUpGenius.

AGE:  Interns should be at least 14 years old.  Community Coaches should be adults or at least 18 years old or completed senior year in high school.  

TRANSPORTATION:  Both interns and Community Coaches and provide their own transportation to program locations.

INTERN EXPECTATIONS:

PARTICIPATE a minimum of once each week during summer (6 times), no maximum.
DOWNLOAD Net Generation app to mobile device and review curriculum prior to each session.  
REVIEW ACE curriculum lessons as provided.

COMPLETE evaluation survey.


COMMUNITY COACH EXPECTATIONS:

PURCHASE/RENEW a USTA Membership -  $44/year for adults https://www.usta.com/en/home/membership 
REGISTER as a provider on Net Generation www.netgeneration.com which includes a NCSI background screening and Safe Sport Certification (2-hour online class).   Registration is current for 2 years.
PARTICIPATE a minimum of once each week (6 times) and attend field trip for program location.
DOWNLOAD Net Generation app to mobile device and review curriculum prior to each session.

COMPLETE evaluation survey.
ATTEND one RCTA Board Meeting. (third Thursdays in January, April, July, October).
