[VOLTA] Open Class | sign - up
Studio Jefta van Dinther is pleased to present [VOLTA]. An exciting opportunity for dance professionals in the field of performing arts to partake in free open classes in movement research and other physical techniques. Participants join the current production cast in intimate classes, hosted by a network of industry professionals who focus on various practices, ranging from Hunyuan Qigong, Middendorf, Klein Technique™ to pilates and breathing sessions. Practice and technique require repetition and variation, in order to make turning points in the development in the fields of dance. With [VOLTA], we want to set up an open space for exploration and experimentation, in, and through movement.

There are only limited spaces available, so we ask that you please cancel your booking by emailing us if you can no longer attend the class.

GUEST TEACHER | MICHELLE MOURA

Michelle Moura is a Brazilian dancer and choreographer based in Berlin since 2017. In her works of the last 12 years, she has been exploring psychophysical changes by proposing a particular experience for the body, such as: not blinking (BLINK), speaking without moving the mouth (Overtongue), hyperventilating (FOLE). With Overtongue (2021) and Lessons for Cadavers (2023) she worked with artificiality and dissociation of elements, manipulating movement, expression, sound and language. Overtongue, created as part of Tanztage Berlin 2021, was one of 13 productions invited to Tanzplattform Deutschland 2022. Michelle has a dance education that started in Unespar (BR), continued in CNDC d'Angers (FR) and at Das Choreography (NL).

WORKSHOP | LIFE IS AN OPEN MOUTH

In these VOLTA sessions Michelle Moura will host a series of workshops based on her recent research into bodily and theoretical choreographic positions.
"We are eating the world. How can we create a big collective mouth that eats and consumes in reciprocity with the earth?" The workshop will depart from such theoretical thinking, where participants will share, trial and explore choreographic dialogues that surround Moura's next creation "BOCA COVA (Grave Mouth)". Participants will work on the principles of symbiosis, reciprocity, regeneration. Actions of opening-closing, share and revolve, will guide us through different bodily and collective explorations. Participants can expect for consensual touch, facial hyper expressionism and some improvised mess.
