Can Architecture Make You Fit

You are being invited to take part in a research study. Before you decide whether or not to take part, it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information carefully

What is the purpose of the study?
This study is for a Dissertation assignment that is part of a RIBA Studio Diploma Course(Part 2) at Oxford Brookes University. The aim of the study is to understand how design influences  how you move about your working environment (both vertical and horizontally) and also how you travel to work.

I am interested in knowing what floor level you work on and how this may influence your choice between using stairs and lifts.  I would also like to know if stairs are easily accessible and the age of the building you work in if known.  

I would like to know if you have completed a Display Screen Equipment assessment form (DSE) and what impact your building has on your well being.

The survey will be open for 2 weeks from 1st August 2019 – 14th August 2019 and a copy of the questions will be included in the appendix

Why have I been invited to participate?
You have been invited to take part because you work in and office environment of the typology I would like to study.

Do I have to take part?

It is up to you to decide whether to take part in this research study. If you do decide to take part, you will be given this information sheet along with a privacy notice that will explain how your data will be collected and used and be asked to give your consent. If you decide to take part, you are still free to withdraw at any time and without giving a reason.

What will happen to me if I take part?
If you decide to take part in this survey you will be required to complete a short questionnaire hosted on google document website
 
What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?
The survey should take no longer than 20 minutes of your time

Will what I say in this study be kept confidential?
No identifying information will be required to be collected and all Information will be kept strictly confidential (subject to legal limitations). Privacy and anonymity will be ensured in the collection, storage and publication of research material.  Research data will be kept securely at all times, before being transferred back to Oxford Brookes University. Laptops and other devices will be password protected and data files encrypted. Data may be stored in Google Drive, for which the University has a security agreement.

In line with Oxford Brookes policies data generated in the course of research must be kept securely in paper or electronic form for a period of 10 years in accordance with the research funder or University policy.

What will happen to the results of the research study?
The results of the study will be collated and will be used as part of my T6: Technology Synopsis a copy of the findings to each participant upon completion

Who is organising the research?
The research is being conducted by a student at Oxford Brookes University school of architecture under the RIBA Studio 2019 – 2020 Diploma (part 2).

Who has reviewed the study?
The research has been approved by the University Research Ethics Committee, Oxford Brookes University.
