A Celebration of Us
Do you know a story from Burke County that needs to be told?

TOSS is mapping out a strategic plan with students to develop murals to celebrate the "Story of Us" - a people's history of Burke County.

Will you join us?!

We are in the research phase and need your help understanding the story of our community. Sharing what you know will help us develop our database of stories to tell. *

Your story could be:

1) A particular person and the story of their lived experiences and/or character (ordinary or extraordinarily; from the past or present day)
2) A particular event (ordinary or extraordinarily; from the past or present day)

Please share anything you think is worth elevating and related to a people's history of Burke County. We are specifically interested in celebrating stories that are often on the margins including:

-African American Experiences
-Agriculture Workers
-Catawba Native Americans
-Cherokee Native Americans
-Differently-abled Communities
-Environmental champions (stewards of our forests, lakes, streams and critters....)
-Hmong Experiences
-Latinx Experiences
-LGBTQ+ Experiences
-Manufacturing Workers
-Religious beliefs/spectrum of spirituality
-Women's Experiences
-Working-Class Experiences
