2021-2022 National Junior Honor Society Request for Consideration
Membership in the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is one of the highest honors that can be earned by a middle or high school student. Our chapter has worked hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and the community. Our chapter strives to give practical meaning to the Society’s standards of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These five ideals are considered as the basis for selection. No student is inducted simply because of a high academic performance. The National Junior Honor Society strives to recognize the whole student—one who excels in all of these areas. The standards used for selection are:

Scholarship: 3.5 unweighted cumulative average (calculated for qualifying semester hours from all prior years in MS) Leadership, service, character, and citizenship: as demonstrated by activities and teacher evaluations (current and past teachers) If you are coming from another Middle school, please send kimberly.gannett@bvsd.org your transcript from your prior school.

Membership, however, is more than an honor. It is an ongoing responsibility and an obligation to continue to demonstrate those outstanding qualities that result in a student’s selection. Membership also carries a responsibility to the chapter. If our NJHS chapter is to be effective and meaningful, each member must become involved.

Members commit to performing 20 service hours annually- due by the end of the school year. Students earn service hours by participating in chapter service projects and attending monthly membership meetings. All members must attend monthly membership meetings. Inductees must be available to attend the Fall Induction ceremony, Tuesday, October 19th after school.

We hope you will submit your candidate information form so that the faculty council can evaluate your candidacy. Do not be modest when filling out this form. All information will be used by the faculty council to assist with the fair consideration of your candidacy during the selection process. It is also very important that you, the student, are the only person completing this request for consideration. Completion of this form does not guarantee selection.

The deadline for submission is Monday, September 20th at 8:00am. Late entries will not be considered. If you have questions about this form, please contact kimberly.gannett@bvsd.org.

All members (past and new)  MUST attend the induction for NJHS on Oct 19th at 4pm (virtual).

Congratulations on your success thus far!
