Welcome To B'Yachad
Welcome to B’Yachad Community Religious School registration for 2021-2022/5782! We are excited to come together as a newly expanded community. As we look forward to the new year and new opportunities, we are also aware of the continued challenges presented by COVID and the difficulties of disrupted learning during the past 18 months. Our primary concern is the health and safety of the entire community, which includes paying attention to the physical health and the emotional needs of our students and their families. We will continue to follow MCPS COVID-19 policies, which can be found on their website:  https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/coronavirus/

Our new structure provides expanded educational and social opportunities for all of our students. We will nurture our students’ and families’ connections to their own congregations and rabbis, as well as their engagement with Klal Yisrael, the broader Jewish community, and Am Yisrael, the People of Israel.

We plan for religious school to meet in-person for grades K-6 on Sundays from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. (Grade 7 will begin at 10:00 am.) In the first half of the year, Sunday classes will be at Shaare Torah. For the second half of the year from our return from MLK break, classes will meet at Kol Shalom. Special programs will take place at Tikvat Israel, whenever possible.

Grades K and 1 will meet on Sundays only. Second grade will begin on Sundays only and add midweek classes beginning the second semester. 7th Grade meets midweek through December, and the Sunday program transition in January to our experiential program engaging students in both Holocaust education and Jewish communal life.

Midweek classes will have an in-person option on Wednesday and a virtual option on Tuesday.

Wednesday classes will meet in person at Shaare Torah. Your family can choose session 1 from 4:00 - 5:45 pm or session 2 from 4:45 - 6:30 pm

On Tuesday, virtual classes will be 4:15 - 6:00 pm

We will include Hebrew in the Sunday program to ensure that all students have the tools that they need to feel comfortable and confident as they participate in Jewish life and prepare for their b’nai mitzvah. Hebrew on both days will give the students an opportunity to deepen their skills to review and reinforce their learning. We will emphasize engagement and experiential learning to ensure that our students encounter Jewish learning as joyful and meaningful.
