Purcells Cove Work Party - Registration

DATE: Saturday, June 1st, 2024
In the event that the work party is postponed or cancelled, you will be notified by email and we will update the information on our website. Please check before heading out on the day of the work party.

TIME: 9am-2pm

DESCRIPTION: Teams will be working on installing two different bridges, clearing brush along the trail, working in wet spots and putting up trail tags.  Varying distances of travel over uneven terrain with some slopes are required for this work party. Physical labor (such as carrying lumber and other equipment) may be required based on work location, but at varying levels of skill and comfort.

Generally considered a moderately challenging route due to very rocky terrain and uneven ground, and sections of steep inclines and declines, over a variety of landscapes including woods, water, and exposed pine barrens, all characteristic of the Purcells Cove backlands.

DESTINATION: The work party will begin from the Purcells Cove parking lot (coordinates: 44.608734, -63.568577). Map of meeting point

Some parking is available at the parking lot between 3045 and 3009 Purcells Cove Road, but we recommend carpooling where possible.  Some parking is also available along Battery Drive.  Please do not park along Purcells Cove Road itself.

DISTANCE: Varies from 2km to 4.5km.

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS: Wear sturdy footwear.  If you are interested in helping with the bridge work, wear rubber boots or waterproof footwear.  Please pack water, lunch, snacks, and layers.

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: Friday, May 24th, 2024.
Registration is required and limited to 20 people on a first-come basis. For this work party, we ask that dogs not be included.
