Spring 2023: Book Discussion—Black Foremothers

All four book discussion sessions will take place in person in one of our conference rooms located at 1520 Grand Avenue
Thank you for being fully vaccinated, for wearing a mask, and for absenting yourself if you feel ill.

This spring we will be doing our Re-Learning of U.S. History by reading a book! For those who joined in Fall 2022, we hoped to have Mick Chantler again this fall. This spring we will host an in-person book discussion group as we read Black Foremothers: Three Lives, by Dorothy Sterling (New York: The Feminist Press, 2nd edition, 1988). The book explores the lives of Ellen Craft, Ida B. Wells, and Mary Church Terrell, women we want to know. The reading for each session will be about 50 pages, and we will focus on one woman at a time, leaving time for a more general discussion in a final session.

  • Study and discussion questions will be provided ahead of time to those signed up.
  • Held the third Wednesday of each month (February 15, March 15, April 19, May 17)
  • 10:30-11:45 am
