AI and Minecraft Research Game Nights RSVP
A multi-institute research collaboration project hosted at the Center for Human, AI, and Robot Teaming (CHART) at Arizona State University is looking for thousands of Minecraft players (18+ years of age) in the US to play a multiplayer Minecraft game, where you will defuse bombs in a modded Minecraft map with the help of AI advisors. The de-identified game data will help develop the AI advisors and will be open for research.

Please join our data collection weekly events on Thursdays and Saturdays game days before November 20: AI Research Game Night (5 pm-8 pm PT; 8 pm-11 pm ET). If you play 3+ games on a game day, you will get a $20 Amazon gift card for each game day. The top 3 teams for every week will also gain an additional $25 Amazon gift card per person. A random team from the top 50% performance played on any day of that week (excluding the top 3 teams) can also get an additional $25 per person. The top 10 teams of all games played by the end of the study get an additional $50 per person.

Other than game days, the server is available 24/7 if you have a 3-person team to play or practice. Thursday and Saturday game nights (5-8 pm PT) may be the peak time to meet teammates in the lobby to form teams.

If you have questions, contact Lixiao Huang at <support@socialai.games> or <lhuan111@asu.edu>.

Participant requirements:
  • Live in the United States
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Can communicate in English
  • Have experience playing Minecraft with a mouse and keyboard
  • Have Minecraft Java edition and a paid Minecraft account to use
  • Have a computer and reliable internet access
  • Have normal color vision: if you are not sure, you can check using free online color vision tests, like this ishihara-test.

=======
Update on 11/27/2023: we are officially done with paid data collection. From now on, the testbed is still open for SONA credit participants and other testing, but no more Amazon gift cards for games played after 11/20/2023. For SONA credit participants, you are still recommended to join on Thursday and Saturday evenings to have a better chance of encountering teammates, unless you have your own teammates. You can also email support@socialai.games if you have difficulty finding teammates to play with.
