Students are allowed one absence per concert cycle for a total of 3 absences annually. Students are considered absent when not present for at least ½ of rehearsal.

One (1) late arrival = 1/3 absence; therefore three (3) late arrivals = one (1) absence
One (1) early departure = 1/3 absence; therefore three (3) early departures = 1 absence

Absences may be allowed for the following reasons:

School band or orchestra concerts;
Mandatory school event;
College visit or audition;
Family religious event;
Significant illness/injury; or
Death in the family or similar family emergency

Students are responsible for reporting all absences, late arrivals and early departures at least 7 days in advance to the Youth Orchestra Manager via Google Form.

Rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and concerts are mandatory. An absence from the rehearsal before a concert, a dress rehearsal, or concert is very serious and must be requested as soon as the conflict is known. Please note that it is extremely rare to be excused from one of these events.
