About Us
Our mission is to organize and plan a weekly farmers' market on Cornell's campus that allows for students, faculty, staff and the local community to come together to purchase and enjoy local goods and products. The Farmers' Market at Cornell is working to bridge the Ithaca community and Cornell, while building a greater appreciation for food that is fresh and locally sourced.
 
The market takes place every Thursday from 11AM-2PM beginning in the second week of April 2020.

We believe serving on the Farmers' Market at Cornell executive board is a unique opportunity to become part of this critical effort to connect our campus community with Ithaca area producers.

Overview:
The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that markets are fully staffed and said staff are adequately equipped to perform their duties. The Coordinator will help recruit and maintain contact with all volunteers throughout the pre-season and market season, and is responsible for holding a training session for volunteers at the start of each season. It is crucial that all volunteers are aware of their responsibilities and that their feedback is readily accepted and synthesized by the Coordinator.

Commitment:
The Volunteer Coordinator should be prepared to devote 2-3 hours per week to their responsibilities, as well as attend weekly E-Board meetings. Additionally, they should be available to volunteer at least one hour every Thursday at the market between 10:00am and 3:00pm, beginning in early April.

Responsibilities:
• Work with Social Media Chair to reach out to groups across campus to yield prospective volunteers using an online sign-up platform.
• Hold an information session for prospective volunteers, in which detailed market procedures and expectations are given.
• Hold a training session for all new volunteers to prepare them for market days and ensure thorough awareness of procedures.
• Produce and maintain a volunteer schedule for each market.
• Work with volunteers to create a welcoming and productive market environment.

• Ability to work closely with a group and incorporate feedback into market routine.
