This award celebrates Ken Zarker; those that worked with him miss his kind smile, deep knowledge of the issues, dedication and hard work, and leadership.
The 2023 scholarship awards are either $500 or $1000 to help support conference expenses. Eligible expenses include transportation, lodging, conference registration, and/or food. Any student or young professional planning to attend a green chemistry or alternatives assessment conference is eligible to apply.
Conferences can be regional or national, but must have a minimum of one session on green chemistry, alternatives assessment (AA), toxics use reduction, pollution prevention (P2), or safer alternatives.
Each year we aim to provide 1-2 awards. The award is for a conference or event that is held January 1-December 31. The first deadline for applications is December 20th, but if we still have award funds available, we will review applications on a quarterly basis (due March 31, June 30th, Sept 30). Awards will be announced a few weeks after the application deadline. For questions, contact Melissa Lavoie at mlavoie@newmoa.org.
