Value Based Care Competition 2023

We are so excited to announce MCG's third annual Value Based Healthcare Case Competition! Value deficits are common in the healthcare systems we will one day work in. As future leaders in healthcare, we must play a key role in recognizing and addressing these value deficits to in turn create more equity in healthcare access and outcomes. The goals of this competition are to present the concepts of value-based healthcare provision and emphasize practical applications by challenging you to address real-world problems in the healthcare field.

The Value Based Healthcare Case Competition is divided into two parts: the university-based competition and the national competition. During the university-based competition, teams will receive and analyze a case study of a patient and their interaction with the healthcare system. Students will have to identify an issue from the case and then have 2-3 months to come up with an innovative solution to mitigate and solve the issue. A video presentation up to 20 minutes and the PowerPoint will be submitted to the judges who will decide the winning teams.

During the national competition, the winning teams from every school will then have 5-6 months to implement their solution from the previous competition. A video presentation up to 40 minutes and a PowerPoint will then be submitted to the judges to decide the winning team.

We are currently recruiting students from schools around the country to organize the university based value-based care competition in January 2023 for their respective program. The winning teams from each school will then join us for the national competition which will start in Mid-March 2023. It is completely free to join and the competition will be done virtually. We will provide a guidebook to assist in organizing the university based competition and the case for the competition as well.

Organizers for the university-based competition will be expected to recruit judges, participating teams, faculty mentors for each team, and determining prizes for your respective competition. More information will be provided in the guidebook mentioned previously.
