Full Day Universal Pre-Kindergarten Interest Survey
What does a full day UPK program look like?  This may be a question that jumps to mind as you complete this survey.  A full day program looks very much like a full day program from Kindergarten through elementary with a few important exceptions and differences as noted below:
  • Students follow the same times as other students (8:00-2:45).
  • Students have a nap time after their lunches typically.
  • "7 Panama Principles for UPK Curriculum & Program Focus":
  1. Early literacy skills based in letter recognition, phonemic awareness, articulation, and basic word knowledge.
  2. Early numeracy skills based in number recognition, knowledge of the 100 number board, basic math relationships of addition and subtraction, and calendar knowledge.
  3. Social skill development for interpersonal relationships, personal hygiene, classroom behavior expectations, school socialization, and personal emotions management.
  4. Play!  Play is a critical learning tool whether it is structured play through opportunities in art, music, and physical education or unstructured play.
  5. Civic understandings and development through holiday awareness building and current event focus.
  6. Science exploration through basic experimentations, observations of the natural world, and questioning.
  7. Stamina!  School requires a great deal of energy and focus.  Learning these tools early proves helpful to students as they progress through their school experiences.

If Panama were to implement a full day UPK program in the fall of 2023, would you be interested in sending your 4-Year Old (Birthday by December 1, 2023) to the Program?
How many students would you be sending from your household to the program in the fall?
How would your family be benefited by a full day UPK program?
Do you have children you would be interested in sending to a full day UPK in future years?
If yes to the above question, what year would you be sending your 4-Year Old (By December 1st of that year) to full day UPK?
Perhaps you are looking at this survey and do not have students who would be eligible for UPK but have thoughts you would like to share with the district - this question is for you!  Please indicate below your thoughts on a full-day UPK program and reasonings behind that thought: (Thank you).
