Friends of Roxhill is your school PTO. We are parents, community members, and teachers who work together to support our school.

There are many ways to get involved at Roxhill. We hope that you will consider joining a committee or volunteering with us in whatever way works for you. Please fill out our Volunteer Interest Survey to see what opportunities might be a good fit for you. We can then connect you with the right people! We understand that availability may change throughout the year.

Some volunteer opportunities (such as field trip chaperones) will require that you fill out a volunteer application through SPS. Now would be a good time to apply or check your status as a returning volunteer here.

Events Committee - Help to plan and coordinate events and presentations for our school, either in-person or virtual depending on current health and safety protocols.

Equity and Inclusion Committee - Always a work in progress, the goal of this committee is to make sure that voices are being heard from all of Roxhill’s diverse communities and identity groups and that families’ needs are being met in a culturally responsive manner.

Garden Committee - Help renovate and maintain our learning garden or join work parties and classroom visits to the garden.

Finance and Fundraising Committee - Plan fundraisers and partnerships to raise money for our school, develop and monitor the annual budget.

Communications Committee - Help with updates to website, facebook page, electronic and print newsletter preparation.

Yearbook Committee - Help with the photography and design of the 2022-2023 yearbook.

Family Engagement Action Team - Work together with school leadership to build community and create strong family partnerships to ensure student success. Help with planning of Night of Hope and Festival of Lights.

Coffee Hour - Help with set up, make coffee and/or pick up snacks for monthly morning coffee hour for families.

Lunch Room/Recess- Help during lunch and/or recess times during the school day

Folding/Hole Punching/Gluing/Copying/Cutting- Help administrators or teachers with projects in the office or that can be worked on at home.

BILINGUAL FAMILIES: One of our biggest goals is to break down language barriers between families. We hire interpreters for our meetings, but could use some help with written translation and/or facilitating conversations with families who do not speak English.

CALL FOR BOARD MEMBERS: Many of FORE’s leadership roles are open and we are looking for new board members. You don’t have to know anything about PTO / PTA or Roxhill to be on the Leadership Team. It just takes a love for our kids and a willingness to help.

Vice President: Assist the president and carry out the president’s duties in his or her absence. The vice president also oversees the committees of this organization.

Secretary: Keeps accurate notes of monthly meetings. Works with president and board to create meeting agendas, handles correspondence and sends notices of meetings to members.

Treasurer: Manages budget, provides financial report at monthly meetings, writes checks, makes deposits, understands the current state of fundraising activities.

Board members: Attend monthly meetings and vote on proposals and changes within our non-profit organization. Our board should be representative of the races, ethnicities, languages and abilities of Roxhill students.
