Corrections are given continually in order to perfect technique. Please be appreciative and make every effort to apply corrections once received. The ability to understand constructive criticism and apply the lessons learned is paramount to dance education and keeps the dancer safe.

Do not stop in the middle of an exercise unless instructed to. This is for your safety.

No leaving the classroom after class begins. Try to use the restroom prior to scheduled class start. If you need to use the restroom please raise your hand. Do not interrupt the instructor.

At the end of each class, we perform a Reverence – this provides an opportunity for students and instructors to bow/curtsy to one another and applaud one another for the class. It is customary to thank your instructor after class.

Where possible, hair must be worn in a tight bun. Otherwise, hair must be kept out of the face and as stationary as possible.
Attendance
Attendance
Students should arrive 10-15 minutes early when possible to allow time for bathroom use, changing into dance clothes, removing large jewelry and arranging hair.

Students must be ready to dance at the start of each class. Students arriving late must wait for permission from the instructor to join the class.

Any student arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted to class. This is for the safety of the dancer NOT a punishment, please be prepared to observe class instead or arrange for a make-up class ahead of time and stay home if you expect to be very late.

If the student is feeling ill with symptoms that may be contagious please notify the studio ASAP and STAY AT HOME. – OBT maintains a philosophy of wellness and believes home to be the best and safest place in the event of an illness.

During class if a student complains of being ill, or sustains an injury and cannot participate, the instructor will send them to the appropriate waiting area where the parents will be notified if not on the premises.

Only students with a pre-existing injury are allowed to observe class. The parents must notify the office if a student is to observe class.

Students must be picked up within 10 minutes of class ending. We understand life happens – just let us know ASAP if the student will require a late pickup.

Excused absences will be determined by the Artistic Director. 3 unexcused absences is grounds for removal from the program. No refunds will be given.
