Men & Power Documentary
Thanks for sharing your thoughts for our documentary on men's perspectives of power! This documentary is about MEN and POWER -- how men define power, how they use it, what power they have, what power they want. We're excited to hear your thoughts on this topic!

Your responses to this survey will be completely anonymous. They will help inform the creation of the documentary, and may also be used, either in written or audio form, in the documentary itself (for the latter, we will record your words using voice over).

By completing this survey, you agree to the following: I grant Nicole Bedford ("Producer") the right to use the responses I provided in Producer’s survey in every way, in every medium and format, in perpetuity, including, without limitation, to use, rerecord using voiceover, reproduce, distribute, publish, display, broadcast, and post in and in relation to Men & Power [working title] ("the Production"). In granting these rights, I wish to remain anonymous and for my personal information, including my name, likeness, appearance, voice, professional and personal biographical information not to be included in the Production in any capacity. I waive all moral rights associated with my survey responses and release the Producer from all manners of action in connection with my survey responses and use thereof in the Production.

If you prefer to leave a voice message in response to some questions, call 613-518-6982. You will have 1min 30sec per call to record your message.

If you prefer to schedule an interview by phone / Zoom / in-person (Ottawa/Gatineau only), then complete the last four questions on this survey and we'll contact you to book an interview.

If you have any questions about this project, please contact Nicole at MenPowerDoc@gmail.com.

What 5 words describe men's power? Why?
When did you first recognize power as a kid? Who held the power? What did it look like? Did you want that power too?
In your view, who are the 3 most powerful men? What power do these men have that others don't?
As a man, why is it important to have power?
How do men display their power to other men?
In what ways do YOU strive to be powerful? How will you know when you have power?
What is the difference (if any) between manliness and power?
Do you think your views on men's power are different from other men? Why or why not? How do you know?
Society often sees power as negative, often labelling those who want or have it as "bad". Yet, at the same time, we are also encouraged to want power and strive for it (e.g. money, promotions, influence, leadership, etc.). Why do you think we label men who want/have power as bad? Is all power bad, or just some forms of it?
Men have been very reluctant to share their views on this topic. Many have mentioned they are worried about "saying the wrong thing". Why is this topic so scary? What would be the "wrong thing" people might say? What would make this topic more approachable, or safer, to discuss?
Is there anything else you'd like to share about men & power?
