Green Cambridge Compost Bag Program
Green Cambridge is partnering with the Cambridge Public Works to make compost bags affordable and accessible in local corner stores like yours. Composting is a great way to get food scraps out of the trash and to turn it instead into compost to grow more food. Food scraps can also be used to make energy. Compost bags are used to line kitchen countertop bins to help keep kitchen food scraps bins clean and odor free. They also provide an easy way to transport food scraps out to the compost bin or curbside cart.

In addition to home composting, Cambridge offers curbside compost collection to 31,000 Cambridge households. Once residents use up their starter supply of compostable bags from the City, they are directed to purchase bags from local retailers. Please consider selling compost bags in your store to help make composting an easy and affordable routine that also gives your customers another reason to shop in your store.

Green Cambridge negotiated bulk discount wholesale pricing with beyondGREEN and we want to pass along this saving to you at-cost. Compost bags come in small rolls of 25, enough to last a typical household 2 to 3 months. Through our special rate, we anticipate a wholesale price of $2.49 a roll, with an MSRP of $2.99. The minimum wholesale purchase per store is 100 rolls per order. In addition to offering this product at a special rate, Green Cambridge, in partnership with the Cambridge Public Works, will advertise your store as a program partner. DPW is also available to discuss with you options to assist you with recycling and composting at your store.

Please fill out this form to let us know you are interested in joining the Green Cambridge Compost Bag Program. With enough interest, we hope to deliver the bags in June.
