Elite Empire August 2022 Auditions

The Elite Empire is Charlottesville's Majorette/Hip Hop competition dance team. The Elite Empire performs and competes locally, state wide, and region wide. All dancers who audition will be accepted. HOWEVER, this season the team will be split into Purple and Gold squad. The audition process helps to see where each dancer is in terms of stage presence, technique, cleanliness, and energy. 

Purple Squad:
- Will participate in performances.
- Will focus on learning the fundamentals of dance, and getting comfortable with the majorette dance style and performing in front of an audience.
- Will have the chance to merge onto Gold squad as they progress.
- Purple and Gold squads will practice together.

Gold Squad:
- Will participate in both performances and competitions. 
- Have the dance basis to be able to compete on a high level. Must make cuts in order to actually compete.
- They will be split into Junior (12 and under) and Senior team (13 and up).

Everyone is REQUIRED to Audition.

Team Information:

We will be doing workshops to better our flexibility, technique, control etc. New dancers will be required to learn all of our current routines and keep up with and new choreography. 

We will be accepting dancers ages 9-17 for this upcoming season. We will not have a mini team at this time. We will consider age 8, if they showcase the maturity necessary to be a part of our team at this time. They are permitted to attend auditions, however, will not be able to automatically be accepted. 

Stand Battle: We will not be expanding our stand battle team at this time. We understand that a lot of dancers look forward to this category, and plan on adding more members later this year. 

Fees:
The pre-audition workshop fee is $10.
The general audition fee is $10.
If dancers attend both workshop and auditions the fee will be $15 total.
This can be paid through CashApp $bankscollage or at Paypal.me/BanksCollage2. We request that this fee is paid prior to auditions and workshop.

Our current monthly fee is $45. This includes 1-3 practices a week at 1-2 hours each, the opportunity to compete and or perform, the use of Elite Empire team dance uniforms etc.

Parents will also be required to purchase dance tights, and sports bras for their dancer.
Parents will also be required to purchase a team travel uniform (not included in monthly dues) which includes:
- Team Jacket
- Team Jersey
- Team Leggings
- Team Backpack
- Shoes
All things parents buy,  the dancers will get to keep.

Pre-Audition Workshop: Will consist of learning different skills that will help prepare dancers for auditions. These skills include jumps, turns, walks etc.

General Auditions: For general auditions, dancers must showcase basic technical skills, as well as learn and perform a 4-8 eight count dance. In terms of technical skills, in depth instruction of each skill will happen during the pre-audition workshop. This will be every dancer's first time learning the dance as well.
