Background Check & Fingerprint Process (ONLY REQUIRED FOR THE COLLEGE ESSAY PROGRAM): By selection of "I Authorize," you agree to undergo a criminal background check, required for volunteering at AAPS. Volunteers pay a one-time fee of $40 for the background check and can schedule it at their leisure—it takes about 15 minutes to complete. Certain information obtained as a result of this criminal background check may preclude you from participating in AAPS programs. This authorization is valid throughout your service as a mentor, and criminal background checks may be run periodically throughout your service. Nonetheless, you must notify AAPS within three business days if you are arrested, charged with, convicted of, granted deferred adjudication or deferred prosecution for, or enter a plea of nolo contendere for, any felony or any misdemeanor involving moral turpitude. *
