To give a little bit of background, Informed Justice aims to be a social media account that helps bridge the gap between research and policy. The account will aim to translate peer-reviewed articles in the topics of criminology and criminal justice so that it is digestible to a wide audience.

The hope is that this account can serve as an unbiased, trustworthy, and reliable place for up-to-date studies in CJ. As scholars, this will also help us keep informed on the latest research on the topics we are studying but also extend our knowledge outside of what we are currently researching. Ultimately, this serves as a small step in stepping out of the ivory tower, keeping us accountable, and making research more accessible to the public.

While we know our goal is to promote equity and justice, the platform aims to let the data speak for itself. Therefore, it will not serve an advocacy function nor will it be partisan in any way. Rather, it will present unbiased, peer-reviewed, and vetted studies, in a way that allows readers to come to a conclusion on their own accord.

There are so many perspectives and expertise amongst us as scholars. I hope we can leverage it to create a platform that helps fight misinformation, correct misconceptions, and let the facts tell the story of why criminal justice reform is so vital.

Responsibilities for a contributor are as follows:

1. Translate/summarize one peer-reviewed article weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly into everyday language in either text or interview format. For lawyers, this would be include law reviews, key legislation, and historical summaries. Please commit to min one article per month.
2. Focus on articles in your area of interest
3. Promote the blog to a wide variety of audiences (not just in our own fields or echo-chambers)
