Inaugural Webinar - Launching ILO's Knowledge Sharing Portal on Skills & Labour Migration

Domestic work and workers have been marginalized over centuries. In many regions of the world, domestic work is largely regarded as a job for women or for minorities. However, domestic work is an important aspect of the social construct, especially in the fast pace of today’s world. As per ILO research, there are at least 75.6 million domestic workers in private households and 80 per cent have been informally employed (ILO, 2021, xvii).

The ILO, in collaboration with GIZ and AUDA-NEPAD, is organizing a special webinar to:

  • Share an overview of domestic work skills development programmes - opportunities and challenges.
  • Learn from emerging good practices from the region and beyond on domestic work training.
  • Provide opportunity for exchange and reflections from stakeholders as part of the webinar and launch of community of practice.
  • Introduce the portal of skills dimensions of labour migration of the ASPYEE Platform.
Expected outputs
  • Knowledge on trends and scope of domestic work occupation strengthened.
  • Knowledge, on practices, tools, and approaches for designing and implementing quality training for domestic work is strengthened.
