Over the past several months, the federal government has approved stimulus packages that provide schools districts like Morris with additional funding to assist with costs associated with COVID-19 (cleaning supplies, masks, transportation costs for food delivery, etc.), to assist with the learning loss caused by COVID-19, to provide extra funding for enrichment activities, and to assist with the social-emotional needs due to the pandemic.

While our plan has already been submitted and approved by the state, we have some remaining funding to reallocate.  There are certain requirements that we must follow such as a certain percentage to be spent for summer activities and a certain percentage on extended school activities, but there are many chances to use the money in different and creative ways. We must be mindful that this money is limited and can not be used to create positions or programs that will need continued funding once the grand expires in 2024.

We will hold a brief forum prior to the BOE meeting on the 16th to collect additional thoughts and ideas.
