Shepherds' Gathering 2019 at Cross Roads Camp and Retreat Center
A retreat designed for all leaders, clergy and lay, who work with children, youth, and young adults

Participants are welcome to come on Thursday, December 5, for a time to rest and relax before the retreat begins. For this option, meals start with breakfast on Friday, December 6. Programming for the Shepherds’ Gathering starts after dinner on Friday, December 6. Guests are welcome to depart as needed based on their church responsibilities, but meals will be provided through breakfast on Sunday, December 8.

Cost for the weekend: $65
Lodging: Christ Center (Double-occupancy rooms with single beds and en-suite bathrooms, with access to a kitchenette, including a refrigerator, and shared gathering space. Bedding and towels are included. Toiletries are not included for either lodging option; please be sure to bring anything you might need for the weekend.)

Unable to join us for the whole retreat? Please join us on Saturday, December 7, from 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM for the main conversation! The cost for just Saturday is $10 and includes lunch.

Focus: Youth Mental Health First Aid
Led by Rev. Annemarie H. Cook (Pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Maple Shade, NJ) and Dana Rahmel, M.S.Ed. (School Social Worker for the Maple Shade School District in Maple Shade, NJ)

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a practical training that will prepare those who work with young people in what to do when youth are experiencing a mental health crisis, the onset of a mental health disorder, or may be at risk for suicide. Just as CPR helps those without medical training assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid prepares participants to interact with a person experiencing a mental health crisis. Mental Health First Aiders learn a 5-step action plan that guides them through the process of reaching out and offering appropriate support. The training will include background information about mental health disorders, a Mental Health First Aid manual, and practical training through scenarios and activities.
