Foster Global Ambassador (FGA) Application for the 2022-2023 Cohort
Applications due June 15, 2022.
*Please note you have to be a current Foster School undergraduate student to apply.

There are 23 Foster Exchange partner universities around the world so as Foster undergrads go abroad on Exchange, Inbound Exchange students come to Foster for 1-3 quarters. This is an exciting and scary time for these students as they come to Seattle and learn how to navigate a new culture and university system. To help the Foster Inbound Exchange students get the most out of their time at UW, a team of Foster Global Ambassadors (FGAs) and the Foster Global Business Center (GBC) lead the "Fostering Global Connections" program to welcome these students to the Foster School and to make sure their experience is as positive and enriching as possible.

Each Foster Global Ambassador (that's you!) will be paired with 3-5 Foster Inbound Exchange students each quarter to help them navigate the start of the quarter and build connections throughout their time at UW.

The goal of this program is to introduce the Foster Inbound Exchange students to the American lifestyle and UW culture that these students might not experience independently. Beyond attending the official "Fostering Global Connections" events, this role can be as varied as you like and can include things such as introducing your buddies to your favorite grocery store, inviting them to your family gatherings or friend outings, teaching them how to navigate the line at Orin’s Café, or showing them how to buy their textbooks.

FGA Commitment:
- Reach out to your Foster Inbound Exchange student buddies before the quarter begins to help answer questions and to set up a meeting around the start of the quarter.
- Attend the quarterly FGA + GBC planning meetings.
- Attend the "Fostering Global Connections" events (there will be 4-5 per quarter).

What can you gain from being an FGA?
- Learn about intercultural competence through quarterly workshops hosted by the GBC.
- Expand your global network and connect with students from around the world.
- Gain event planning skills by helping with the "Fostering Global Connections" events.
- There will be events to reward you for your commitment to representing the Foster School, such as lunch with the Dean or a Seattle company visit with the the Foster Inbound Exchange students.

What are we looking for?
- Students who are excited to connect with peers and share what Foster, UW and Seattle have to offer.
- Students who are committed to this program and will be at the majority (or all!) of the events each quarter.
- Students who are creative and can contribute ideas.
- Students who are welcoming and open minded.
- We are looking for a year long commitment for the FGA cohort but you will still be considered if you are studying abroad next year.

Thank you for your interest in helping the Foster Inbound Exchange students get the most out of their time at UW!
