iDMAa 2022: Weird Media
Deadline Extended: February 11, 2022

Winona, Minnesota
Conference and Exhibition June 24-26, 2022

This year’s iDMAa Conference, Exhibition, and Workshop will be focused on the theme “Weird Media” In keeping with iDMAa’s commitment to “militantly marginal” media practices, this year’s theme will focus on unconventional media studies--from the odd to the uncanny, from the suspiciously animated to the supernaturally ordained, from the familiar forms to far-out fabulations, from established to the emergent--we welcome fresh perspectives that offer insights into how strange mediation can be.

For standard papers and talks, the deadline for 500-word abstracts or panel proposals is January 1, 2022. Individual presentations are limited to 10 minutes of presentation, with prepared notes distributed in advance, to encourage lively discussion. Panel sessions are limited to 40 minutes, also with notes in advance, followed by discussion. As usual, we are interested in our customary mix of academic research articles, philosophical discussions, artist talks, and practice-based professional approaches, all in dialogue with the conference theme. Welcome submissions from students and arts/media practitioners, feel free to contact us with questions
