Spring 2024 Application for Applied Music
PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION THOROUGHLY PRIOR TO APPLICATION SUBMISSION. 

We hold all auditions for applied lessons on Thursday, January 18th between 10am-1pm. 

Applied Music is a core component of the Associate in Arts Degree in Music for Transfer (AA-T in Music) and is reserved for students intending to complete this degree. Students must complete four consecutive semesters of Applied Music study as part of the AA-T in Music requirements. Applied Students must follow the course of study outlined in the college catalog, including: the Music Theory and Musicianship sequence, ensemble(s) participation, and General Education requirements.

If I am granted Applied Music instruction from Ventura College, I agree to enroll in the required concurrent music courses as part of the Associate in Arts in Music Degree for Transfer as specified in the college catalog. I also agree to meet regularly with my Music Faculty Advisor and Counselor to successfully meet the degree requirements in a timely manner (two years). If I fail to maintain a grade of C or better in all currently enrolled music classes, I understand that I will be place on probation and risk forfeiting my eligibility for future Applied Music instruction.

Applied Music is a very special and in-demand program at Ventura College. Music Majors are held to high standards and the course of study is rigorous. In addition, Music Majors spend several hours outside of their classes participating in activities such as: additional rehearsals for major productions, performing in master classes or studio classes, studying and memorizing repertoire, and attending off-campus performances.

Do you need a piano accompanist for your audition?

An accompanist shall be provided if needed. Please only select if you certainly need a piano accompanist. Generally, those auditioning for Applied Music (Voice) will need an accompanist. Accompanist tracks or pre-recorded tracks are highly discouraged.

The Applied Music audition requires you to prepare one musical selection appropriate for your primary instrument and level of current study. A brief musicianship assessment may also be administered. Do you understand?
