JAL Dance Eisteddfod and Extension Commitment Form 2022

Thank you for choosing to be a 2022 JAL Dance eisteddfod TEAM member.

*** Due to the current state regulations,  although JAL Dance can accept non vaccinated parents and students at the studio, theatres where the eisteddfods are held can not necessarily.   If you have any concerns, please contact Julie-ann.

We need commitment and for the children to treat the Eisteddfod team seriously. It is very frustrating, and boring for those who turn up each week (including the teachers), to relearn moves/change positions, when others do not.   Number one, it needs to be FUN!

Eisteddfod prerequisites
Students must attend at least 2 ballet, 1 tap and 1 jazz class each week to be part of the Eisteddfod team (not including 6&Under) to retain a level of fitness and technique required.  The 6&Under team member must do at least one other dance class per week. A compulsory Eisteddfod Intensive is scheduled for February 6th, 13th  and 20th (see above for times per group). If you are unable to attend this your child will not be included in the dances that we work on that weekend. NB: Age as at January 1 determines your Eisteddfod group. You may dance up an age if and only if you are also doing your own age group. If you perform in two age groups, there are two fees.
Costumes:

There will be a costume associated with every routine.  An attempt is made to use existing concert costumes, however as you can understand, due to age ranges, not everyone will have the same costume.  Second-hand costumes will be sourced for you to purchase if possible.  Please understand that you may need to buy extra dance shoes if you are part of the eisteddfod team.  Costumes may dictate that tan jazz shoes, chorus shoes or jazz boots are required for example.
JAL Dance Tracksuit:
All members of the JAL Dance eisteddfod team are also required to have a JAL Dance tracksuit.   If you need a new one, please arrange with SSS Design Moorooka 0402074299.
Cost:
There will be an Eisteddfod enrolment invoice issued with the return of this form.  The cost of this is $50 for 6&U, $100 for all older age groups.  This goes towards covering eisteddfod fees, competitor’s passes and stage rehearsals.  Eisteddfod classes will be charged at $10 per week with normal class charges. If more than one age group then only one weekly class charge will be applied.
Open Viewing:

We hope that parents can come and watch a class on Monday 14th February (8s, 10s, 12s and 15s), so you can see how the classes work and how necessary it is to have everyone there.
Extension classes:

If your correct age group is 10&Under or higher, you may choose to do extension classes on a Saturday if you do eisteddfods as well as 1 other class per week.

You must

•      Continue with your 2 ballet, 1 tap, 1 jazz, 1 eisteddfod lesson, as well as 1 other class per week.

•      Commit to a 3 hour dance class every weekend for Term 1 and ½ of Term 2.  Which half will depend on the Eisteddfod dates that are still to be confirmed. These classes will involve ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, musical theatre, singing, drama, contemporary, lyrical, stretching etc. We will be working on technique but also working towards extra performances (normal Eisteddfod teams will still be going ahead however the extension students will be doing some of their own extra routines).

Attend the eisteddfod intensives as outlined above

The extra cost will be $35 per week on top of your normal dance lessons. Missed classes cannot be made up as guest teachers are often arranged. Please do not miss any - routines may be rehearsed on any day
Age groups will be decided after enrolments.

The Extension uniform is compulsory and must be worn each week.
o Girls – Energetiks Chelsea cobolt blue and black top with JAL embroidery with plain black high waisted shorts
o Boys – black dance wear
If you have outgrown your current uniform, please bring (bagged and clearly labelled) to swap/on sell on enrolment days.  If you need new, please arrange with SSS Design Moorooka. 0402074299

• Understand that not everyone will necessarily be performing in the Extension routines. Performers will be chosen on ability within the genre(s) chosen for that age group. The routines rehearsed in Eisteddfod rehearsal are totally different.

• Extension classes can not be used as makeup classes.
Commitment
Thank you for choosing to be a 2022 JAL Dance extension class and/ or just an eisteddfod TEAM(s) member as per your enrolment form.  All going well, each age group (except 6&U) will be competing in three eisteddfods this year and the Dance for a Difference eisteddfod concert. It is very important that team members attend ALL weekly eisteddfod classes and are available for above mentioned date.  Please mark these dates in your diary now.
