Virtual Field Trips Teacher Interest Form
Our Interactive Virtual Field Trips allow your students to explore their local food system, interact with our local food producer friends, see brand new content from unique locations, and think critically about new ideas, from the comfort and safety of their classroom or their home.
The Virtual Field Trip is a one-hour facilitated workshop, that consists of short videos exploring the space, printable worksheets, and interactive activities, as well as a live Q&A with a Growing Chefs staff member and a food system hero related to the field trip. We can accommodate your classroom as a whole from one location, or we can set you up to join from multiple locations (including any students learning from home).
Our current offering is designed for grades 4-7, but we have the option of being flexible.
The three field trips currently available are (with more to come):
- Fresh Roots Farm - Urban Agriculture & the 6 Parts of a Plant.
Includes a Q&A with a local farmer.
- Cheakamus Centre - Maple Tapping & the Science of Maple Syrup Making.
Includes a Q&A with a local chef or Indigenous educator.
- Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture - Natural Life Cycles & Our Food Systems.
Each 1hr workshop is offered at a sliding scale of $80-$100. We always want to help teachers as much as possible, especially during these challenging times. If this cost is a barrier, please reach out to us for a financial assistance. As always with Growing Chefs programs: no classroom will be turned away for lack of funds.
If you’re interested in having your class participate in a Virtual Field Trip, and bringing parts of the food system to your learners, please fill in the form below and we will be in touch!
