The following is the interest form for VAT Advocate training. VAT is a 24/7/365 hotline, which depends on the services of volunteers to support survivors on CSU's campus.
Completing our extensive training program in the summer or 2025 will help you understand the complexity of the aftermath of interpersonal violence. You will gain the skills necessary to assist students in making decisions and obtaining resources. You will be educated about legal and medical systems, psychological ramifications of interpersonal violence, and the information needed to provide choices to survivors while ensuring the victim remains in charge of decision making. Advocates can also provide emotional support as the victim seeks resources.
Summer 2025:
VAT training will be offered in a one-week intensive May 19 - 23 from 8am - 5pm. This training is typically geared toward faculty/staff/graduate students, although we trust undergraduate students know their capacity better than we do! The one-week intensive is not available to take for academic credit.
Please contact Kristin Middlesworth at kristin.middlesworth@colostate.edu with any additional questions.
We are excited about the possibility of having you join our amazing team of volunteers. Thank you for sharing your passion with SAFE Center!
