ERN-EuroBloodNet European Mapping for management of Venous Thrombosis and Arterial Thrombosis in Pediatric Patients

Dear Colleagues,

Thromboembolic events are increasingly recognized in children. Compared to adults, however, pediatric thromboembolic events are rare and differ significantly in epidemiology.

International collaboration is essential to enable high-quality research to improve the evidence for management of thrombosis in children. To stimulate collaboration in this rare disease, we aim to set up a working group in the non-oncological hub of ERN-EuroBloodNet.

As starting point, we have prepared a European mapping exercise to identify the prevalence, epidemiology and the current management options of these complications across Europe.

If you are willing to be updated on the results of the analysis and on other related activities on the field, please provide your contact details, alternatively you can answer anonymously.

We would really appreciate that you collaborate to this European mapping and forward it to your colleagues implicated in the management of pediatric thrombosis, within or outside your center, it only will take you few minutes!

Thank you for your precious collaboration.

Sincerely yours,

Heleen VAN OMMEN, MD, PhD, Pediatric Hematologist, Erasmus MC: University Medical Center Rotterdam
Rubén BERRUECO, MD, PhD, Pediatric Hematologist, Hospital de Sant Joan de Déu, Barcelona
