BBQ Competition Entry Form
Share your love for BBQ at Lazy River!! We’re excited to bring a fun-filled BBQ competition to Lazy River for the first time in 2025. The competition will be held on June 28. This event will take place rain or shine - so if weather looks iffy, bring your tent! Contestants will be cooking Boneless Pork Ribs and may enter the Open Class (appetizers, etc.)

DETAILS:
1. Arrival: Contestants will arrive and check-in on Saturday, June 28 between 8-10am (please call us if you need special arrangements). All equipment needs to be in place by 11am. Location placement will be based on each contestant's size and electrical requirements. Most spaces will be 10x15 and limited larger spaces will be available. Register early or check with us to verify your space needs. Vehicles must be moved away from the competition to a nearby parking lot (under the bridge) by 11am.  

2. Meat: Contestants will be provided (2) 3lb cuts of boneless pork ribs to cook; each cut may be prepared as a separate entry. Please indicate if you have the capacity and are willing to cook more that two cuts. We will provide more. Contestants will provide their own ingredients for open class, if they choose to participate. 
 
3. Cooking and Equipment: Any wood, charcoal, or wood pellet fired cookers, homemade or commercially manufactured, will be allowed. No electric, gas, wood, charcoal or wood pellet fryers are permitted during the cooking process. Frying with any form of fat, butter, or any type of oil is prohibited. Meats must be cooked to a minimum internal temperature of 145°F. 

Contestants are expected to maintain clean cook sites and adhere to all food safety rules and regulations. The use of sanitary gloves is required at all times while handling food. Failure to use sanitary gloves may result in disqualification. You are responsible for cleanup of your site once the competition has ended. 

Bring your own tables for cutting and sampling. Sample cups, entry boxes, and ice will be provided.

4. Judging: Prepare a 3 oz. serving of each pork entry and a 2-3 oz. serving of your open class entry. We will provide separate boxed containers. We will have 3 local celebrity judges grading you on appearance, aroma, taste, tenderness, and texture. Ribs will be presented at 3:30pm, followed by Open Class entries at 4pm. (We will sample pulled pork from a non competitor at 2:45.) Contestants are responsible for keeping meat warm until judging time. 

5. Prizes: 
  • Boneless Pork Ribs (2 variations allowed):1st place $150 and custom Lazy River T-shirt in your size;        2nd place $75; 3rd place $50. 
  • Open Class (appetizers or other): 1st place $50; 2nd place $25.
