Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent Auditions - Application Form
On behalf of the Mississauga Tamil Association’s Positive Youth Development Committee, we thank you for your interest in auditioning to perform for Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent – Season 2.
The purpose of Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent is to discover and promote talented and motivated youth and provide an appropriate and competitive forum for the display of their talents. This will involve building the self-esteem and confidence in youth. Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent is not an event intended to promote any particular art form, language, culture, or religion. Please note the contestants of Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent will solely be judged, based on their talent including the following criteria: i) Quality of Performance ii) Stage Presence and iii) Appropriateness of Dress or Costume.

Contest Rules and Regulations

ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE:

● Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent is open to any resident of the Region of Peel between the ages of 5 and 30 on July 14th, 2019 and who is of Tamil origin.
● For group contestants, at least one member of the group must be a resident of the Region of Peel (including the cities of Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon) and be of Tamil origin.
● Contestants who are residents of the region of Peel must provide identification on the day of the audition and final to confirm their primary address.
● The 1st prize winners from Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent – Season 1, will not be permitted to participate as contestants in Season 2.
● Contestants under the age of 18 require parents or legal guardians consent to participate.
● Parents or legal guardians are responsible for the contestants who are under the age of 18 and must accompany the contestants to the audition and final venue, but will not be allowed inside the audition room and on or behind the stage.  
● No contestants under the age of 18 may be “dropped off” or left unaccompanied at any time.
● Parents or legal guardians must bring documentations to prove their own identity.
● All contestants must bring documentation to prove their residency, Date of Birth and identity (e.g. photo ID) to the audition and final. To prove this requirement, contestants may use multiple forms of documentation if needed.
● All contestants must sign the liability release and publicity waiver form and agree to all Contest Rules and Regulations. Contestants who are under the age of 18 should also have their parent/legal guardian sign the liability release and publicity waiver form and agree to all Contest Rules and Regulations.
● Audition performances for both individual and group participants must be between 1-3 minutes.
● If selected, final performances for both individual and group participants cannot exceed 10 minutes. Selected finalists must send their final music (if applicable) to pydcmta@gmail.com no later than one week prior to the final event.
● All performances (themes) must be suitable for a family audience and must not contain profanity, nudity or any suggestive lyrics or actions and must be culturally appropriate and not perpetuate any stereotypes or discriminations.
● Acts employing the use of any weapons (or replica weapons) or pyrotechnics, open flames or any other dangerous additions are ineligible for this contest.
● No smoking or the drinking of alcoholic beverages are allowed on the stage or at the event.
● No pets, other than assistance dogs, are allowed.
● No items may be tossed or handed out to the audience.
● No banners or themes that are commercial, political, or controversial may be displayed.
● No alcohol, tobacco, or drug advertisements are to be shown on any clothing.
● No profanity, nudity, stereotypical, culturally inappropriate, discriminatory images and or text are to be shown on any clothing.
● Only limited audio/visual equipment (sound, microphones, a CD player, and a laptop) are available. Contestants are responsible for providing all other equipment needed.
● All results are final and at the discretion of the judges. Any interference in the judging process will not be tolerated and will result in immediate disqualification. Members of Mississauga Tamil Association (MTA) and the Positive Youth Development Committee (PYDC) will not be responsible for the results of the auditions and final event of Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent – Season 2.

Failure to abide by any of the guidelines above will result in disqualification from the auditions and the final event of Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent – Season 2.


PROCEDURES:

Step 1: Application (Due Sunday, July 7th, 2019)
● The attached application form must be completed and signed by the contestant and by the contestant’s parent/legal guardian if the contestant is under the age of 18.
● The completed form must be e-mailed to pydcmta@gmail.com by July 7th, 2019. Please ensure that the information included on the form is legible and clear.
● The contestants must also print out the completed application and bring it to the audition on July 14th, 2019 along with the $10.00 application fee for individual participants or $5.00 application fee per member for group participants. Please note that only participants present at the auditions will be allowed to perform at the final event if selected. For example, accompanying instrumentalists for solo performers must also pay fees and attend the auditions. All fees are non-refundable.

Step 2: Audition (Sunday, July 14th, 2019 – Mississauga Valley Community Centre)
● All applicants will be contacted for an assigned audition time via e-mail.
● All contestants must bring documentation to prove their residency, Date of Birth and identity (e.g. photo ID) to the
    audition. To prove this requirement, contestants may use multiple forms of documentation if needed.
● Audition performances for both individual and group participants must be between 1-3 minutes.
● Only selected participants from the auditions on July 14th, 2019 will participate in the final event. The details of the final event of Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent will be provided to the selected participants via e-mail. Participants who are not selected will also be informed via e-mail.

Step 3: Final (Sunday, August 11th, 2019 – Meadowvale Theatre)
● The final event of Mississauga’s Tamils Got Talent will be held on Sunday, August 11th, 2019 at Meadowvale Theatre.
    Further details will be communicated to finalists via e-mail.
●  All contestants must bring documentation to prove their residency, Date of Birth and identity (e.g. photo ID) to the final. To prove this requirement, contestants may use multiple forms of documentation if needed.
●  If selected, final performances for both individual and group participants cannot exceed 10 minutes. Selected finalists must send their final music (if applicable) to pydcmta@gmail.com no later than Sunday, August 4th, 2019.
● Please note that the audition performance cannot be repeated for the finals.

JUDGING:

Members of the judging panel will be selected at the sole and absolute discretion of Mississauga Tamil Association and the Positive Youth Development Committee.
Contestants will be judged on i) Quality of Performance ii) Stage Presence and iii) Appropriateness of Dress or Costume.
Judges will break all ties if necessary.
Score sheets will not be available for review.
All decisions of the judges are final.
