CBHCS Madrichim Application 2023-24
Thank you for your interest in the CBH Madrichim Program! All Madrichim ages 14+ are paid at a rate of $7 per hour, with a $0.25 raise for each subsequent year in the program. Madrichim ages 14 & 15 will require a special work permit (we will send you the paperwork after you complete this registration). Madrichim under 14 are taken on in a volunteer capacity ONLY.
Participating as one of our madrichim provides excellent work experience as teens prepare for their first jobs, giving teens the opportunity to practice responsibility, timeliness, following directions, and follow-through. Kate Hennessey (CBH Education Director) is more than happy to provide letters of recommendation to Madrichim upon request.

!!! THE DEADLINE TO APPLY/REAPPLY TO THE PROGRAM IS July 15th!!!

**All Madrichim must be fully caught up on current vaccinations offered for their age group for vaccination against COVID-19.**

Each of our madrichim will be assigned a classroom to assist the teacher where needed: Madrichim will help engage younger students in making friends and social play during recess; will assist in reminding students to adhere to whatever safety & health policy is in place at the time; will assist their teachers as needed in the classroom (including classroom set-up and clean-up); are also tasked with helping set-up and restack chairs for Haverim Minyan (our school-wide morning prayers service).

Madrichim must be willing/able to show outstanding enthusiasm in both participation and classroom support, stay off their phones, and follow constructive feedback. Madrichim are also expected to participate in Haverim Minyan (our school-wide morning prayers service) with energy and enthusiasm, to set an example for the students they work with. Madrichim attendance is from 9:15am – 12:30pm.

DATES:

See our 2023-24 Sunday calendar, linked in the application email.
Madrichim attendance is on all days that Sunday school is in session, unless otherwise indicated.
[Attending the Teacher & Madrichim Orientation Training Day on 8/6 is MANDATORY in order to be accepted into the program.]

***Hebrew 101: Madrich/Madricha/Madrichim***
In Hebrew, there are feminine and masculine forms of words, as with most languages. (For example, think about "señor" in Spanish, which means "sir," while "señora" means "ma'am.")

“Madricha" is the feminine term, used to refer to a female individual.
"Madrich" is the masculine term, used to refer to a male individual.
“Madrichim” is the plural, used to refer to multiple people.

However, not everyone identifies as either female or male, so we are now using “madrichim” as a nonbinary option. (This is similar to how many people use the pronouns “they/them” to refer to an individual nonbinary person.) At the beginning, you can let us know which you we should call you. (If it changes during the year, just update us to let us know! :) )
