The Safety Centre Hazard Alley has successfully secured funding from the Motor Insurer's Bureau to be able to deliver workshops to Year 7/8 and Year 12/13 students on 'Staying Safe on the Roads' and 'Being a Responsible Driver'. These sessions are intended for use alongside your existing PSHE programmes and are designed to be taught as part of wider learning on health and living in the wider world. The sessions have been created by the Motor Insurer's Bureau and have been accredited and endorsed by the PSHE Association.
The one hour workshops are delivered at your school, in the classroom, and are fully funded by the Motor Insurer's Bureau.
Year 7/Year 8 (KS3): Staying Safe on the RoadsStudents will be able to:
- describe the responsibilities of being a pedestrian, driver or passenger
- identify different types of behaviour that could increase the chances of having an accident on the road
- assess the impact of taking risks and explain different strategies
Year 12 & 13 (KS5): Being a Responsible DriverStudents will be able to:
- describe what it means to be a responsible driver
- identify why young people might decide to drive uninsured and assess the risks and consequences of doing so
- explain how young people can drive responsibly and reduce the cost of motor insurance
