We’re glad you’re interested in Latinos in Action. It’s a great program which focuses on leadership
development, community action, and college & career readiness.
As a part of the program, you will have the opportunity to act as a literacy tutor for students at a nearby
Elementary School. You will be helping children who are learning English as a second language, who are
struggling with reading or other subjects, or who simply need a good role model. Your job will be to
teach academic skills to help kids succeed and to be an example to them of responsibility, caring, self-
discipline, and hard work.
When we are not tutoring you will be receiving training in leadership skills, cooperative action, teaching
methods, mentoring, job skills, and college preparation. In the end, the program is designed to make a
difference in your life and help you make a difference in someone else’s life as well!
