Indian River High School Soccer Hall of Fame Criteria
The Indian River High School Soccer Hall of Fame was established to formally honor the memory and contributions of the many outstanding athletes, coaches, and supporters of our soccer program. The Hall of Fame serves as a symbol of our appreciation of the excellence, honor, and devotion displayed by these celebrated individuals and teams.
NOMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS
- The selection committee shall consist only of the Indian River Soccer Hall of Fame members.
- A maximum of 4 Players and 2 Coaches will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during any given school year.
- Contributors are at the committee's discretion.
- Any individual with a demonstrated interest in the Indian River High School soccer Programs may submit a nomination.
- No individual can nominate himself or herself for induction.
- All nominations will be presented to the Hall of Fame members.
- Once an individual has been nominated, their nomination will remain active for a period of five years or until such time they are inducted into the Hall of Fame.
- To be approved for induction, a candidate must receive support from 75% or greater of the total votes from the - - Hall of Fame members by the voting deadline given out each year.
- Indian River High School reserves the right to remove any individual from the Hall of Fame for personal conduct, which reflects discredit upon the school.
PLAYER INDUCTION & NOMINATION CRITERIA
Players Criteria for Induction:
- Players will be eligible for induction five years after graduation.
- The player must have attended Indian River High School for a minimum of two years and be a graduate of a Indian River High School.
- The player must have conducted himself/herself in such a way as to reflect honor on the school and must have exhibited those qualities of character and standards of conduct consistent with their status as a role model to the community.
- Players Immediate Induction, Once Nominated:
- NCAA All American recognition.
- NSCAA All American/NSCAA Regional All American.
Strong Consideration
Player nominees who meet two or more of the following criteria will be given strong consideration by the Hall of Fame Committee:
- High School Soccer:
-- Member of a DIAA State championship.
-- State Tournament team qualifier.
-- All-State selection.
-- All-Conference Selection Three or More Times during High School career including honorable mention.
- College Soccer:
-- Collegiate soccer player.
-- Collegiate All-Conference or All-Region.
COACHES INDUCTION & NOMINATION CRITERIA
Coaches Criteria for Induction:
- The individual will become eligible for the Hall of Fame immediately upon their retirement or five years after leaving employment with the Indian River School District.
- The individual must have coached a varsity team at a Indian River Senior High School or Selbyville Middle School for a minimum of five years.
- The coach must have conducted himself/herself in such a way as to reflect honor on the school and must have exhibited those qualities of character and standards of conduct consistent with their status as a role model to the community.
- Automatic Induction, Once Nominated:
- Member of a Recognized State Soccer Hall of Fame.
Strong Consideration
Coach nominees who meet two or more of the following criteria will be given strong consideration by the Hall of Fame Committee:
-- DHSSCA Coaches Top XI Team.
-- Coaches’ Association 1st Team All-State Selection.
-- Numerous Conference Championships.
-- High School Coaches' Association including: 1st Team, 2nd Team, 3rd Team.
-- Sectional, Regional, Semi-State Championships.
-- Coach of the Year honors by state recognized coaching organizations or media groups.
-- Career winning percentage greater than .650 at Indian River High School or Selbyville Middle School.
-- Athletic success of individuals coached.
-- Years of coaching service at Indian River High School or Selbyville Middle School.
-- Leadership roles in national/state coaching associations.
-- Member of the coaching staff of a state recognized all-star team.
CONTRIBUTOR’S INDUCTION & NOMINATION CRITERIA
Contributor’s Criteria for Induction:
Eligibility of outstanding contributions will be at the sole discretion of the selection committee.
-- Candidates must have made outstanding contributions or offered extraordinary services to the student/athletes and the soccer program at Selbyville Middle School and/or Indian River High School.
Candidates do not need to be graduates from Selbyville Middle School and/or Indian River High School.
