General Statement of Intent
Please write a statement of intent that explains your interest in participating in the AACS Annual Conference from October 7th - 9th in Louisville, Kentucky. Explain your previous experience with AACS and/or how future participation in AACS could support your development as a student. Include a discussion of your desire to participate in the student paper or poster competition, preside over a session, and/or obtain a professional development certificate through conference participation.

Student Travel Grant
Would you like to attend the AACS but funds are tight?  Why not apply for one of our Student Travel Grants? Our decisions about grant allocation will include an assessment of both merit and need. Please consider applying for this travel award that is funded by the AACS with funds raised by the AACS student committee and allocated by the AACS board. Student Poster and Paper Competition
Have you completed or are you in the midst of completing research in Sociology?  Do you plan on presenting this research either as a poster or paper presentation at the AACS?  Enter the student paper or poster competition for your chance to win back some of your registration fee and bragging rights both personally and professionally (C.V/Resume).  Presentations may be single or co-authored, must contain original work and must fall under applied, clinical or public sociology.  These presentations must be the students own work and not their supervisors and must also explicitly show how the work falls under applied or clinical.
*Note: You will also need to submit papers through the conference paper submission form and posters through the conference poster submission form.

Student Presider Program
Are you looking for opportunities to attend and participate in the AACS Conference this year?  Apply to be a Student Presider! Student Presiders are tasked with ensuring smooth flow of an assigned conference room by keeping track of session attendance, sessions stay on time, announcing presenters and facilitating questions and answers following the presentations.  This opportunity will enhance your C.V/resume building, provide valuable Professional Development and reduce your conference rates.

The Professional Development Certificate provides student attendees at all stages of their career with an ongoing, engaging, and productive professionalization opportunity at our annual conference. The certificate also serves as a recognizable accomplishment that enhances students’ CVs/Resumes.
