Guidelines for Nikaah Registrants:
  • N.B: THE LADIES’ FACILITIES WILL BE CLOSED DURING NIKAAH TIMES.

  • VIDEOGRAPHY & PHOTOGRAPHY IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED ON ANY AREA OF THE MASJID PRECINCT GROUND WHICH INCLUDES PARKING AREAS.

  • Please note that time slots for Nikaahs at the Houghton Masjid are as follows, subject to availability:

Nikaah times

  • Only Kajoor (Dates) & Zam Zam may be served outside the Masjid boundary in the courtyard area. No consumables are to be brought into the Masjid. No stuffed Kajoor is allowed (coconut, etc).

  • We kindly request that bottles and other items not be labeled with the name of Allah Ta'ala or the names of the bride and groom, as they require proper and respectful disposal.  

  • The Imāms and/or The Trustees of the Masjid must be informed regarding the agenda of the Nikaah programme.
  • In accordance with the Personal Protection of Information Act, no person/s will be allowed to take the Nikaah register. It will instead remain with the Imāms at all times.
  • A form requesting the details of the respective Nikaah parties must be collected from the Masjid and filled out a few days before the Nikaah.
  • There will need to be representatives from each of the two families present at the Nikaah.
  •  The Bride is kindly requested — after making prior arrangements — to come to the Masjid with her Mahram to sign the Nikaah register prior to the Nikaah.
  • Her representative, the witnesses to representation, and the groom will all sign on the day of the Nikaah ceremony, إن شاء الله.
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Please be advised that; for the validity of the Nikaah, it is necessary that the representative of the bride obtains verbal consent from the bride _in the presence_ of the two witnesses. All four individuals (the bride, her representative and the two witnesses) must be present for this formality to take place.
  • If a particular Imām from the West Street Masjid is requested to perform the Nikaah, please contact the relevant Imām directly and make prior arrangements to confirm his availability and to discuss the Nikaah program. The Imāms contact details will be made available where required.
  • In the event of either the Bride, the Groom or both of them having taken Shahādah (embraced Islām) recently, we would — for record purposes — require a signed and commissioned affidavit affirming such. An affidavit form may be collected from the Imām if required.
  •  Please ensure timeous arrival of Nikaah parties at the Masjid so as to avoid confusion and inconvenience.

  • Please note that there is no required fee for Nikaah, as the masjid covers the associated costs. However, any Lillah contributions are greatly appreciated and, Insha’Allah, rewarded by Allah (SWT).

    Kindly mark your envelope as Lillah (Nikaah) with a reference name, and place it in the collection safe located at the rear of the courtyard.
