Commitment to academic and personal excellence is fundamental to your child’s success. To that end we expect that students:
- will strive to attend school each day on time, ready to learn in body and mind
- are committed in class, participating in positive ways under the guidance of the teacher
- ask questions and show an active interest in learning
- complete assigned work and seek help when needed
- read for pleasure and practice on a regular basis
- share their learning experiences with their fellow students and parents

Our community is also important. We expect that Booker students will:
- respect the dignity and privacy of all members of their community
- respect the opinions of others and participate in positive dialogue to resolve problems
- show pride in The Booker School including wearing the uniform and remembering that when they are off--campus and in uniform their behaviour reflects on the school
- treat our surroundings respectfully, including our classrooms, resources and facilities
- refrain from chewing gum, inappropriate language and rough play, and refrain from any activity which may be considered harassment
- speak to parents or teachers if any bullying occurs; as bullying contradicts our Guiding Statements
- follow the expectations on our Behaviour Policy to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all

Safety of all students is a concern to all of us. Booker students are expected to:
- follow all instructions and expectations given by teachers
- understand our emergency procedures, which will be taught by the teachers
- avoid harmful and dangerous activity and not damage school property
- stick to assigned areas and never leave the school grounds without permission
- associate only with adults who are known to them, or who are with an adult known to them
- follow school policy regarding technical devices including cell phones, cameras, ipads, ipods, computers etc.

Parents play an important role at the Booker. We expect that parents will:
- support and model the Guiding Statements of the school, its values and policies, in their actions
embrace the Educational Program
- model good citizenship by respecting the dignity and privacy of all members of the community
- communicate directly with teachers if concerns arise
- communicate directly with the Head of School to discuss school issues
- support their child’s learning by ensuring that they are healthy, at school on time; immediately informing staff if they will be absent or late when possible
- attend Parent/Teacher meetings, school functions and activities to support student learning
- support the school through action including assistance with transportation, in fundraising and on committees

The teachers and staff of The Booker School are leaders entrusted by the parents and the community with the responsibility of developing their children socially and academically. To this end teachers and staff are expected to:
- support the Guiding Statements of the school and its policies, and to model the IB Learner Profile attributes and attitudes
- be passionate about their teaching so that the students become passionate about their learning
- attend to the safety and privacy of each member of the community and support and encourage students through any academic or social hurdles that may arise
- respect students and parents as unique and capable individuals
- communicate in a timely and clear manner the activities and expectations of the school to both students and parents
- not tolerate any form of physical, emotional, social or academic bullying from anyone
- strive to find the best way each student learns and try, to the best of their ability, to help each student rise to their optimal self
- maintain an ongoing desire for life-long learning, reflection and growth in their teaching strengthen community bonds by participating in extracurricular activities and on school committees

A commitment to support the Guiding Statements and Essential Agreements of The Booker School

I, as Parent or Guardian of the applicant, agree and undertake to support the values, policies and Mission Statement of the The Booker School Society ("School") and the values of the International Baccalaureate Programme.

I acknowledge and agree that The Booker School will require my child to embrace the Learner Profile attributes, The Booker School program and Behaviour Policy. Following school policy and procedures, the school may, at its discretion, require a student or the child’s family to withdraw from the school. In this event, a refund for remaining tuition costs may be provided.

I acknowledge that Student Achievement Plans (SAPs) and support will be put into place for students identified with academic needs that fall outside the purview of our program. Parents will be notified in writing of concerns and brought in to collaborate on goal-setting. In the event a determination is made that a child requires additional professional support outside the expertise of school staff, these costs will be borne wholly by the parents.

We accept and understand the values and expectations of The Booker School. We understand that a student’s or family’s disregard of the expectations of the school may be deemed sufficient cause for dismissal. In the event of a poor fit between student or family and school being determined by the Head of School, refunds for the remaining portion of tuition will be considered. Dismissal is at the sole discretion of the Head of the School and Board of Directors.

We agree that our child may participate in all school activities, including athletics, and any school-sponsored trip away from the campus as well as the use of photography or video for publicity purposes unless the school receives written notice to the contrary.
