The ABFE Institutional Award for Philanthropic Leadership was established in 2002 to recognize significant efforts and contributions of grant-making organizations to promoting philanthropy as a means for social change in Black communities. This award recognizes an exemplary grant-making institution that models effective and responsive grant-making practices.
The Institutional Award for Philanthropic Leadership Awardee will be acknowledged virtually at ABFE's 2021 Annual Conference, "Harambee: Let's All Pull Together," on Friday, April 23, 2021. ABFE will host a formal awards ceremony in Fall 2021.
Eligibility Requirements & Guidelines:

Only institutions are eligible for nomination.

Awardee must be an established 501(c)(3) grant-making institution.
4.
Awardee must demonstrate significant contributions to promoting effective and responsive philanthropy in Black communities and use of philanthropy as a means for advancing social change.
5.
Awardee must demonstrate intentional strategies to increase diversity of internal staff, grantees, and vendors.
6.
The awardee must model visionary or progressive philanthropic leadership practices.
7.
Awardee will be acknowledged virtually at ABFE's 2021 Annual Conference, "Harambee: Let's All Pull Together," on Friday, April 23, 2021. ABFE will host a formal awards ceremony in Fall 2021. To register for ABFE's 2021 Annual Conference, visit
