Please submit this form and send proof of enrollment to the TD by 9 pm ET on Friday, 12/21/23 to enter the qualifier. Round 1 pairings will be sent to all eligible players via email by the end of Friday, 12/22/23.
Depending on the number of registrants, there will be a top cut based on AGA rating. The format is single elimination with a maximum of 4 rounds.
The qualifier will be held on
KGS in the AGA Tournaments room. All games will be played even, Japanese rules, and with 6.5 komi. The server will decide players' color randomly. Time settings are 60 minutes main time per player with 1 period of 60 seconds byo-yomi.
Eligibility: Any full-time undergraduate student in the US or Canada under the age of 30. This includes foreign national students studying in the US or Canada. Professional players are ineligible.
Schedule (if 4 rounds; if there are only 3 rounds then there will be no round 2 on 12/23)
Round 1: Saturday, 12/23 12 pm ET/9 am PT
Round 2: Saturday, 12/23 3 pm ET/12 pm PT
Semifinals: Sunday, 12/24 12 pm ET/9 am PT
Finals: Sunday, 12/24 3 pm ET/12 pm PT
Players will be required to use cameras and have an active video call open with their opponents during games.

The winner of the qualifier will be invited to Tokyo, Japan to compete as the representative of North America in the 22nd World Students Go Oza Championship between February 20-22, 2024. The organizers will cover the local transportation expenses, lodging, breakfast and lunch meals, and 50% of the airfare.
